In Web Hosting by Fathi Arfaoui1 CommentLast Updated: September 16th, 2017

InMotion Hosting and Bluehost are two of the most popular web hosting providers, with years of experience, and millions of hosted websites. Both, they offer shared hosting, VPS, and dedicated servers. Of course, they support all the popular open source applications, such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, eCommerce sites, and more.

However, these two companies can be compared, based, on many features and technical characteristics. That’s to choose the best web hosting at the end. In this hosting comparison, I’ll use the performance, features, customer support, and more factors and reviews, to find which host is the best.

The following table will resume the comparison. However, you can read more information using the below details.

Hosting prices for the cheapest plan

If you look at the first plans for both companies, you will notice a small difference of around one dollar. We talk about the yearly plans, as a reference. But, when you calculate that price, you can see that their prices are nearly the same with a small difference only.

So, the InMotion Hosting and Bluehost prices, without extra services are the same. Bluehost charges $6.95 per month.

Inmotion Hosting vs Bluehost

On the other side, InMotion charges $6.99 for the yearly hosting plan. Both companies don’t offer a monthly payment hosting, and they only have a minimum of yearly plans.

Bluehost vs Inmotion Hosting

The migration service

This is an important feature for people who look for a technician to transfer the entire website without downtimes. InMotion Hosting offers a migration service for free. On the other side Bluehost offers a professional migration service, but with a charge of $99.99 if the website owner needs the transfer.

If you want to install your website for the first time, there is no issue with any company, and you can use any provider. But, when you need a website transfer and wants to save money, then, you can choose the one that offers that service for free, and it’s InMotion Hosting in this case.

Account limitations

Bluehost offers unlimited domain hosting, unlimited disk space, and unlimited bandwidth. With the same price, the InMotion Hosting accounts come with unlimited bandwidth, and disk space, but, with 2 websites and even for unlimited websites for the second plan.

That’s not a matter when you need to host one or two websites. If you need to host up to multiple sites, then, you need to upgrade to the next plan with both companies and get unlimited domain hosting. There are lots of Bluehost reviews that reported slower loading time.

On the other side, the InMotion Hosting reviews reported faster loading time. That’s because of the optimized infrastructure and the latest hardware upgrades with SSD.

InMotion vs Bluehost: Technical features

The InMotion Hosting servers come with SSD. These Solid State Drives maximize the site performance and take the hosting to the next level and that will boost the site speed.

On the other side, Bluehost comes with SSD servers, but with slower loading time in my own experience. I noticed that the InMotion Hosting server speed is faster. That means faster loading time for websites.

If you want to read more technical features that make InMotion better, take a look at the following table details. It tells everything about their powerful servers and its resources.

Inmotion Hosting SSD

Technically, the InMotion Hosting is faster, and fully optimized for crawling and indexing thanks to their custom server architecture.

Both companies, offer SSH access, so developers can run their commands, and manage their applications in a secure environment.

The two companies offer high quality Linux servers, and each one of them adds its own customizations, to optimize the server for PHP applications. But, the InMotion Hosting VPS service is optimized better, for speed and performances. They have a great service for WordPress website and lots of people were amazed by the super fast loading time.

Both hosting services offer a daily backup. This is a very important feature that everyone needs. It’s the only way to restore your website files if something wrong happens.

The Bluehost control panel is customized, but, it’s better at the same time. People who worked with the classic cPanel control panel will find it nearly the same. InMotion Hosting offers the classic cPanel control panel, which easier to use. That amazing control panel offers the tools that you need to install or manage files online, and everything else.

The two hosting providers offer an auto-installer software for all the popular open source applications and PHP hosting.

InmotionHosting

For the server power and resources, the Bluehost minimum RAM in a dedicated server is 2GB. When the InMotion Hosting minimum dedicated RAM is 4 GB, and it and can be upgraded instantly. That’s why InMotion Hosting is one of the most powerful dedicated server providers among the others.

Also, they are one of the best shared hosting providers. They work on good VPS, but, they offer the unlimited power of dedicated resources. If you’re looking for the power, the Bluehost dedicated servers are cheap, but with powerful RAM.

Server Speed and Uptime

There is no exact method to test the uptime for each company and conclude the best one at the end. That needs complicated settings with the same value, from the same location, and the site that we should test should have the same theme and content.

But, in my own experience and also with the help of the web hosting reviews that I receive, Bluehost has more downtimes, and even big problems as what happened in the year 2014, where their data center was completely unavailable.

So, the customer support was also unreachable during over 15 hours or so. During that period, all the VPS and the shared accounts were not available and that’s a big issue with Bluehost.

The customer support

InMotion Hosting and Bluehost offer quality web hosting and good customer support. Both offer a phone support, live chat, and a ticketing system.

InMotion Hosting has a friendly customer support that available all the time. When things happen, people can contact them and get the help. The two hosting providers offer good support, but as I said, the last big downtime of Bluehost made things complicated in terms of getting the help. That’s because of the customer support itself, was not available.

Conclusion

Both companies are recommended web hosting providers for their affordable prices, reliable hosting. But, if you take a look and compare their technical features and more resource, you will conclude that InMotion Hosting is the winner and the best.

I’m not going to affect your choice. However, personally, I look for the server configuration, the uptime, the customer support, and the server speed. These are the things to consider when looking for a powerful web hosting.
